Annie McGinn Nisbet

Annie McGinn Nisbet, who has more than 20 years of progressive leadership in the corporate sector and over 13 years in the nonprofit sector, has been hired as the development director the Black AIDS Institute, Los Angeles.

Phill Wilson, the Institute’s CEO, said the new hire will move the Black AIDS Institute forward in its mission to expand programs and resources.

“No organization can be sustainable over time without proper infrastructure, so in 2007, we have focused on strengthening our infrastructure to support our growing programmatic elements,” said Wilson. “Adding a development director allows us to make sure our organization is properly resourced, and thereby, increases our capability to deliver more effective services. The hiring of a chief operating officer ensures we can make our day-to-day operations more efficient, again enhancing our program by having more effective support for the services we deliver.”

Nisbet, 47, who is from Malvern, Worcestershire in the United Kingdom, said she looks forward to the opportunity to create sustained profitability for the Institute, while helping the organization “become an international buzzword in the fight against AIDS.

“We want to bring in as much money as possible to sustain the incredible work the Institute does and get as many people locally, nationally and internationally excited about working together toward the eradication of this disease,” she said.
