GMHC's Art & AIDS: 30 Years
Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art collaborated to present Art & AIDS: 30 Years, an exhibition featuring work by 50 artists living with HIV/AIDS. The more than 150 diverse pieces were on display from November 29 to December 3 at the New York City gallery.
To celebrate World AIDS Day, the organizations put together a panel discussion of distinguished speakers to reflect and discuss “The Power of Art in the Epidemic.”
The panel included AIDS activist Mary Fisher; Charles Leslie, cofounding director of Leslie-Lohman; Bertil Lindblad, director of the UNAIDS New York office; Cynthia O’Neal, cofounder, president and facilitator of Friends in Deed; Osvaldo Perdomo, cocurator of the exhibition; and POZ’s own editor-in-chief Regan Hofmann.
