STAGE Benefit Raises Over $285K for AIDS Project Los Angeles

Film and Broadway stars took to the stage in Beverly Hills for the 29th Annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (STAGE), which raised more than $285,000 for HIV/AIDS direct care, education and advocacy services offered by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

The theme of the April 6 show was “Broadway, My Way,” which had performers giving their own contemporary twists to classic Broadway numbers. Six-time Emmy winner Bruce Vilanch appeared in a tutu for “At the Ballet” from A Chorus Line, and Madison Claire Parks, the granddaughter of late STAGE performer Betty Garrett, performed a rendition of “Think of Me” from The Phantom of the Opera.

STAGE fundraisers have featured more than 300 stars of Broadway, film and television while raising millions of dollars for APLA and other Southern California AIDS service organizations, helping fund programs such as food pantries, freestanding and mobile dental clinics, in-home health services, housing assistance, and HIV prevention and testing efforts.
