HIV/AIDS Rally and Vigil in Washington, DC


The Equality to End AIDS HIV/AIDS Rally and Vigil took place at the Ellipse in front of the White House in Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 10. The HIV/AIDS rally and vigil preceded the National Equality March for LGBT civil rights, which took place on Sunday, October 11.

Many HIV/AIDS advocates from across the country and around the world participated in the HIV/AIDS rally and vigil. They included: Sean Strub, POZ's founder;  actress and singer Sherri Lewis; Synthetic Division bandmates Shawn Decker & Marshall Camden; spoken word artist Desesnce; transgender advocates Cecilia Chung & Ericka Jeanxelle; Broadway performers Julia Murney, Marc Kudisch & Kate Shindle; advocates Charles Long & Dennis Dunn; performer and advocate Bert Coleman; singer Julia Nixon & pianist Dave Ylvisaker; spoken word artists Brandon Plain & Antron Brown; singer Brett Daniels; performance group Diva League; advocates Ron Johnson, Angela Green & Jorge Delgado; singer Dudley Saunders; Oriol R. Gutierrez Jr., POZ's deputy editor; and the Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson & Bishop Rainey Cheeks with singing quartet.
