MAC AIDS Fund Hosts Dallas Buyers Club Nominees Toast

On March 1, the MAC AIDS Fund hosted a private event to celebrate the success of the film Dallas Buyers Club, according to a statement from the group. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and won three.

Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar for best actor, Jared Leto won for best supporting actor and the film also won for best hair and makeup. The event was held at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont.

In addition to McConaughey and Leto, also in attendance were John Demsey, MAC AIDS Fund chairman; film director Jean Marc Vallée; screenplay writers Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack; and producers Robbie Brenner and Rachel Winter.

In honor of the film, MAC AIDS Fund provided grants totaling $100,000 to AIDS Services of Dallas and Treatment Action Group (TAG). Through sales of its Viva Glam lipstick and other products, the MAC AIDS Fund has raised more than $315 million for HIV/AIDS advocacy and services worldwide.
